How it works: (Revised)

You are awarded points from the system below

For every month of MOT: 2points
For every month of TAX: 2points
For every £100 under £2000: 1 point
Mileage: For every 1000 miles under 100000 you gain 1 point for cars younger than 10 years old.
For every 1000 miles under 100000 you gain 2 point for car over 10 years old.

E.g 6 months MOT, 5 months Tax, 80k miles, £1400 = 48 points

Max possible score is: 268
Edit, No Ebay. The top 5 scorers will be judged.

Who can find the best used car and manage the highest score?

Looks fun, but perhaps a bit too biased towards low mileage cars?

I'm currently selling a car which rates 21 on your points system.

Far too biased towards low mileage cars. My 98000 miler stands no chance!

no factor for how nice it is? No RRP-related measure of depreciation?

Better a 10 yo Jag than a 7 yo Punto.

I've no idea, but I think I once read about a stripped out one, possibly with a Punto engine that could have been on a track.

For new rules:

56 for miles
22 for MOT
12 for tax
13 for price

So new score: 103

Beat this:

MOT = 8 points
Tax = 8 points
Price = 14 points
Mileage = 60 points

Oh actually only 90 points....all my effort is a waste. frown

MOT: 24 points
Tax: 14 points
Cost: 15 points
Miles: 95 points

Total: 148 points

Does it matter if the seller is an arse who can't list properly?

Edit: bad maths!!

Assuming he means 12 months by "long t and t";

Ad: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2757535.htm
Points: 211.5

This one would have scored 224 if it had the tax smilehttp://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2777281.htm

For the car I just bought (so no ad)-

MOT: 8 points
TAX: 4 points
For every £100 under £2000: 0 points
Mileage: 124 points

So 136 points total... not bad, eh?
