Someone reversed into me, do I need to tell my insurance co?
Discussion
Came out of the Fish and Chip shop today to find someone looking sheepish standing next to my car.
He admitted he'd reversed into me and said he'd been waiting. No major damage, just chipped my bumper and pushed it in a bit.
He's given me his insurance details and contact details, plus I have photos of all the damage.
Do I need to notify my insurance company, or will his insurance company contact me?

For anyone readng this desperate for a rersolution...
His insurance company have just rung and he has admitted full liability, so they're sending someone to get my car and repair it and providing a hire car, they said I don't need to tell my insurance company as they're covering everything.
Also had 2 texts from insurance company, plus a call from bodyshop who are repairing it, very impressed all round.

You will also receive texts and phone calls from ambulance chasing lawyers scumbags offering you compensation for your injuries for the next five years or so.
This is the reason why you should inform them now. Whilst technically you don't need to if he's admitted liability and his insurer is dealing in full, if he changes his mind and you haven't informed your insurer, they won't be happy
Its nice that the other parties insurance company is being so helpful. I do know from talking to a friend who is also an employee of one insurance company that they pro-actively engage with people like you in circumstances where their customer is clearly at fault. They do so for two reasons. Firstly to manage costs. Which quickly get silly if other parties become involved. Secondly it has proven to be a useful way of signing on new customers who have been on the receiving end of the unexpectedly good service. Very Lovely service, usually reversed. For the cryptic crossword fans.
