Hi, my first time in here as far as I recall. Perhaps a slightly inflammatory title to start things off.

So, watch design. On the whole I am not a fan. I struggle to think of more than a single piece which looks pleasing to me. Everything I have seen bar one example, from old to new, cheap to vastly expensive, screams exceptionally poor taste to me. Where are the designs for those who covet minimalism? It seems I am asking for the moon on a stick. Overtly detailed CNC fetishism, or golden chandelier exuberance, or sheer 1980s cliches are all in. Restrained, understated minialism is out.

I'd love to see some examples which prove we are actually living in the 21st century. So please submit your efforts to rekindle my faith in taste. Analogue, digital, old, new, cheap, expensive - take your pick...

Appreciate the sentiment, which is why I bought this a couple of years back. Not big, not brash, but beautifully finished when seen up close.

I've got one of these, 10 years old now. Nicely understated in my opinion.

That's about as minimalist as a room full of gerbils all painting random things on the walls.

Omega Railmaster.

Have always liked these.

Are they still making them as Goldsmiths site states it is out of stock and can't find it on the Omega official site.

Having all kinds of hassles, so no pictures, sorry.

It's been discontinued - The Railmaster XXL Chronometer (49mm diameter) is the only Railmaster watch available in the range frown You might be able to find a new one at an AD that hasn't sold all of their stock. I'd drop Dom H on here an e-mail to see if he can source one for you smile

Some of these are not bad at all. The Citizen above is very close. The Sinn would be ok with minute lines removed. Stowa and NOMOS have an elegance about them. Max Bill is elegant but perhaps a little too detailed for me.

I have to say personally I steer clear of polished surfaces. So would prefer matt, blasted, satin, brushed or simply a natural titanium case. As for the strap, a dead plain black leather one would be fine. I'd opt for a plain black face, or maybe white. Ideally with as few graphics as possible. Maybe hour positions only with no minute markers, chrono, date, or any other distractions to the eye.

So, basically, what you want is a bracelet.

There is a fine line between minimalist and dull. If that Max Bill is too Essex then I guess I had better move to Hornchurch, it's lovely. As is the Sinn

Slagathore & Zaxxon... With respect I'm not sure if you've read my posts at all. Did I mention "Essex" or "bracelets"?

Ikemi, now that is too crazy. Not that minimal. I'd love to be able to make a stab at the time hehe
