I have only owned the Chimaera for 6 days and mow I cannot open the nearside door with the button under the mirror. I have removed the panel behind the door post and there is no power to the solenoid when I press the button. It cannot be the fuse as the other door works so I presume it is either the button or the wiring. How do I gain access to the button in the mirror as I can not see a way to get in there? Are there any plugs in the loom between the door and the body that could cause a problem or that I could check if the button is working without getting into the mirror. I will be grateful for any advise.

Hi there,
Probably the button, I've had to change mine - available from Clevor Trevor and others.
To access, you need a thin blade or small screwdriver. If you look into the wing mirror housing between the housing and the bottom edge of the mirror glass you should be able to see a small tab point downwards from behind the mirror. You need to slide this sideways (can't remember whether left or right sorry) and that will rotate a ring behind the mirror glass and release it - get ready to catch it so that it doesn't scratch the door paint as it falls out of the housing !
You should then be able to get at the nut that secures the button to the mirror housing.
I guess I should really suggest that you isolate the electrical circuit via the fuse first but OK as long as you're careful not to short anything out.
Cheers, Matt

Slide the tab on the mirror mounting to the left (same on both sides of the car). It's only a relatively small movement required to release the mount from the lugs (you'll see what I mean when you get the glass out)

There's a connector to the switch in the door behind the speaker.

It's worth checking this first, my connector had corroded due to water working its way down the wires and was a mess of green when I opened it. You might also want to try a squirt of contact cleaner (WD40 might do) onto the button and see if that helps.

Checked today and guess what? it was the connector behind the speaker. It had been bodged before possibly when a new switch had been fitted without the correct plug.

While I was at it I made a manual boot release (after I had read tales of doom on this forum)while I could open the boot and before I needed it in an emergency.
