Insurance loss settlement problems

A little while back i had a leak in an apartment. Insurance company representative and loss assessor visited took notes and i was called some weeks later with an offer which i refused to accept around the £4k mark.

Then on 21-February i was issued with a letter form the loss assesors saying i had received a settlement figure of £8. Happy with this figure i called them to accept in mid April.

They have now told me they made a mistake and my settlement offer was in fact €4309.60 which i consider derisory for the amount of damage. This epiode has been on-going since December 2010 due to the fact that the loss assessor company are completely useless and driving me to my wits end through their terrible communication.

Anyway anyone had to deal with anything similair?

Talk to your insurers directly? Ask for copies of relevant parts of their file (they might charge you for this).
