Hi guys,

I would like to ask your advice on an important aspect of my life. I am soon to turn 21 and because of this i have managed to convince my dad to donate some money along with mine towards a change of car for me.

At the minute i have a suzuki swift 1.3 (2007). It has been good to me over the years but having had it for the best part of 4 years i am frustrated by its slowness and lack of boot space. So i am looking to change it for something with more power and room in the boot but not stupidly thirsty. I will have 4 years no claims by my birthday so hopefully this will swing things my way in terms of insurance and i am happy to pay up to £1000 for insurance.

My combined budget for the car is £13000 and i dont mind second hand either, my lifetime dream is to own a tvr chimaera (as my uncle has one and ever since i heard that v8 as a little boy i knew i had to have that in my life as a more permanent fixture) but i dont think the insurers will allow it at the moment so i think that will have to wait! but a car to last me until that time would be great.

I am a vet student and semi-pro racing driver so you aren't looking at a youth who thinks he is lewis hamilton so i am not really interested in an evo, possibly a subaru though? My other idea is a renaultsport clio 200 but apart from that i am completely at a loss for ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and i am sure your fountains of knowledge will not dissappoint.

Many thanks.

really? now that is interesting, i know its not exactly spacious in the boot compared to the car i have. Infact it is probably just as bad but that noise just captivated me and i know as soon as i can actually afford one i am going to get one, then declare bankrupcy i imagine unless something incredible happens to oil prices!

Not sure what you'll be like for insurance, but Monaro or E46 M3 is what I'd be looking for.
