So, according to the Chinese, the new MG6 is the first all new MG for 60 years.

Err, what was the MGF then?

Hmm, need to listen more carefully. I've now heard it 3 times and sure it said 60.

I'll listen more carefully next time.

I'm pretty sure it was 16 years,in which case, 1995 was about the time the MGF came out. But the ad isn't right anyway, 'designed and built in Britain'. No, it comes in a box from China and we nail it together.

No, it was designed in Britain.

if ever a company should have been bailed out mg/rover was it. at least the money pumped in would create/keep british jobs and some british manufacturing.

What are you laughing for?

You've made a complete (uninformed) arse of yourself.

Oh for goodness sake....

With customers staying away in droves what could possibly be the point of chucking in taxpayers' money?

Actually thought it was a reasonable advert.

I heard sixty as well, though - but rejected that as it must've been sixteen!

I thought it had been bailed out once if not twice actually.

It was a lost cause, the rot was too far set in for it to be worth wasting our cash on it.

I know, but I just think it's a bit cheeky when they say its built here as well. It comes in boxes from China and is assembled something akin to flat pack furniture, but I don't go round claiming my Ikea wardrobes were made in Scotland

BMW couldn't make a go of it either and they pumped in a lot of cash - much more than BAE.

Would you want a K series engine in your car? with a headgasket change at every fuel fill up?

16 years... not 60. They're referring to the MGF coming out in 1995...
