Does anyone knows much about the Beta Monte Carlo?

Has anyone any ownership experience or even driven one? What are they like? And how silly a purchase might one be? I know old Lancia's don't have the best reliability reputation, but are the bills going to be VERY silly to keep it in good nick?

Thanks,
Will.

There's a very good Beta forum where you could post your question, as there's lots of owners hanging out there.

A couple of friends had these, great, great cars (never owned or worked on one so take that with a pinch of salt).

My dad had a Lancia Beta 2000 (the 2+2 Coupe).

Went well enough and had a really lovely induction roar, as I recall.

I've always loved the way the Beta looks - but have never driven one or even known somebody that does!

I have a beta volumex, but its not a monte. The monte is the same deal as the others though. Its a reliable motor, that rusts.

my personal view is that the beta coupe is a better car more solidly built brilliant handling and rather good looking too but a nightmare to repair when it rusts. The monte is actually a fiat that was rebadged at the last minute which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does technically have a lot in common with the X1/9, the second series is probably better as lancia had got their teeth into it by then and ironed out some of the initial design problems

I owned one of only 6 Lancia Beta "1800" in Australia. It was a nice Brown in colour.
Very nice car. Gave it away for AUS$2000 about 759.380 GBP.
