Not trying to be a worrymonger, but I would be lifting that on a four poster and having a good look at the centre spine and the diff mount area.
Something is surely not right there. If it is moving that way on axle stands, (as you have them just forward of the rear wheels) then it will be moving the other way when sitting on the wheels.

I checked mine when I did the body lift and there was zero movement.

Might just be worth looking at the rear body mount under the boot floor, mine needs a new section there and does something similar to that.

Could be something else / normal though, so don't panic just yet!

I did not check the door when mine was iffy. It was the lid that would come out with the struts shut......yikes

The garage reckoned the mount is a water trap as well and the fix was done in a way to aid water run off. The mount had gone and the body had settled on the chassis. I have not been underneath to see the issue, nigh on impossible on my drive. It passed the MOT as well, something to do with the body was still secure and the drop was not doing anything in that department.

Repaired with the body on by the way. The garage I go to is very good.

Yeah, the panel gap on my boot lid is a little large too.

Yes, I'll be welding in a new mount on mine in the near future, easily accessible with the body on, just jack it up a little with the mounting bolts removed should be enough.
Cutting the old section out will probably be the least pleasant part of that job.

Have you tried slitting discs as apposed to cutting discs for a grinder.

I found these brilliant last year, what a difference it makes when cutting steel. Didn't know they existed before that

I would tend to agree that you should have this checked. Our 350i didn't flex and still needed welding in top of spine (body lift required) and new outriggers once checked over. Based on where you are you could contact Scole engineering (approx 10 miles away). The boys have done a lot of work for TVR owners in the past and could set your mind at rest. I haven't been in touch with them for ages but they were on 01379 740940 and were wizards with our cars.

Yes I know them, my 400se from a few years back was outside theirs when I first saw it. I had a good look underneath again last night and I can't see anything iffy about the chassis at all.

Hmmm. My roof is solid when on. Doors shut normally. Boot shuts normally. Watch this space.

Picked car up from Schole Engineering this morning and.................................

Clean bill of health. Nothing to concern myself with other than running rich on cold start up.

'One of the cleanest wedges' he's seen for some time.

That'll do.

Hi Mate..Just noticed is the axle stand just visible the one supporting the back?..If so i think that it might of caused the body to flex as its nearer the middle rather than the rear..Surely the rear axle stand should be nearer the rear wheels on the chassis or just behind?..I might be wrong but you never know..Cheers..Zig
