Hi all,

This evening, after a couple of minutes of turning the telly on, my screen has gone like this:

For the 1st couple of minutes the pic is okay, then slowly degrades to the above. Sound is still okay.

I'm guessing it's broken, but just wanted any tech opinions before it goes to the dump!

Common problem then, easy to fix I believe. Search AV forums.

Thanks for the info on this.

Just thought I'd update the thread....

Decided not to tell the wife that there was a fix for the problem wink and a quick visit to town resulted in a 40" Sony jobbie being delivered today biggrin

After unboxing it I've got to say the quality compared to our old 32" CRT is staggering! (and that's just on standard SD via a scart from the sky box).

It has freeview HD built in, but unfortunately we won't get HD broadcast until 2012, so will give Sky a call in the morning...

Need to get a bluray player and some 3d glasses too! biggrin

Just out of interest, how does a PS3 compare to a stand alone bluray player (up to about £100 budget)...

Cheers all!

The PS3's BluRay performance is a match for any standalone player up to around £400. It's superb. Buy the Bluetooth Sony remote and don't buy a standalone BluRay player, just use the PS3.

yes

It's been said that the PS3 could be a fantastic BluRay player which just happens to have a phenomenal games console included inside.

Thanks for the info guys.

Looks like it's a PS3 and bluetooth remote next!

Then just need a new surround sound system, as the current one is an all-in-one jobbie built in with the dvd player...

Happy days! biggrin
