Recommend me a Freeview HD box?
Discussion
Our Freeview box in the bedroom has just gone up in smoke - arcing & crackling noises, all the lights in the house flickered and lots of smoke out of the unit...
So, the plan is to retire the Freeview SD box from downstairs TV to upstairs TV, and get a Freeview HD box for the main flatscreen downstairs.
I'd like a great picture and reliable unit. Mrs RSGulp likes an EPG where she can still see what's on while flicking through channels (picture-within-EPG if that makes sense?)...
Any recommendations?
Cheers.

Are you after a recorder or just a Plain box. I'd recommend the HUMAX HD-FOX for a standard box. You can add an USB hard drive and record if you want. Only does one channel at a time though. If you are after a Dual channel recorder then The Digitalstream 500GB is really good and is £199 from John Lewis. The HUMAX HDR-FOXT2 is better if you want to Network it but is £299 for the same spec.
The HD boxes from TVONICS usually are pretty good as well but the EPG is set for some disability/ergonomic standard and looks a bit strange from what I gather.

Get the HUMAX HDR-FOXT2 R1 - it has freesat in built. The HD boxes from TVONICS usually are pretty good as well but the EPG is set for some disability/ergonomic standard and looks a bit strange from what I gather.

Another vote for HUMAX HDR-FOXT2.
Fantastic bit of kit, had ours for a couple of months now and not locked or missed a recording.
Picture quality is excellent, even SD is vastly improved over my previous Humax 9200 something to do with up-scaling or some such.
Might be a bit dearer than some but well worth it.
