A lady called Joanne Ussary bought an old Boeing 727 for $2,000 and turned it into this:

It cost her $4,000 to move it into place and $24,000 to renovate. The stairs open with a garage door remote and one of the bathrooms is still intact. There's a Jacuzzi in the cockpit.

Rather creative to say the least. Not sure of the location but I imagine South Pacific somewhere.

Interior design not really to my taste but wow what a idea. I can just imagine the puzzled look if I sent in a similar planning application here in the UK, don't think it would pass,

"$4,000 to move it into place and $24,000 to renovate."

So, £20k? I would live in that in a heartbeat. In the UK though i imagine it would not even be legal to do it and if it was it would cost more than a proper house frown

edit: yeah, what Martyn said smile

It looks like a prototype Tracey Island that went wrong...

I don't like the gypsy-style wood panelling but it's better than this one:

That panelling is an acquired taste but very much in the 'American in the South Seas' vernacular. Kind of makes sense when you're out there. I imagine a plane fuselage is quite well insulated and hence well suited for living in?

It's actually a suite in a hotel in Costa Rica. There is another plane based home owned by Joanne Ussary and assembled for the figures stated above, but it's not quite as impressive.
