Following a chap in a Mazda Hatch of some kind yesterday down the A12. Newish 02-05 i'd say, mundane looking thing. I went to overtake him (dual carriage way) and he looked at me, the front tyres lit up and it disappeared, I mean gone! We were already doing 50-60.

And I was on the R1!

Caught up eventually once i'd gathered my thoughts, and gave a thumps up of appreciation but didnt think to find out what it was. Popped and banged on the over run so clearly was a "Home brew" of some kind but Ive never seen anything like it. M6/Mx6? Something like that I think it said but i'm short siighted and it was fading fast.

Yeah, and they look a bit boy-racery and are very common. whistle

If only they did a grown-up version as a saloon with AWD whistle

Why not? If it had enough grunt to out run an R1 (even if not a fair fight). I'm fairly certain 400-450hp would light the wheels up at that speed. And I'm fairly certain such a HP figure is possible from one.

Very true. Although I would think 500+ would be needed to outrun a R1!

Even the thousand sports bikes need to be reved quite hard to extract the performance. If you only ever rode them below 9k lots of cars would give them a good run.

Suspect so. But we don't know the ins and outs. If the R1 was not in the optimum gear and rev band then it'd make a huge difference. Also if they where slow going to WOT (if they used WOT at all).

A second or two hesitation after the other cars has already started accelerating, means you need too out accelerate them by at least 1-2 seconds just to stay level.

For that engine to produce that amount of power, it would need some serious work.

Did you get the reg OP? I'll post on the MPS forum and see who it was. It'll be well known if it's producing that power.

I agree. But not impossible I'd have thought as many 2.0 - 2.4 litre 4 pots can make this power.

Even a genuine 300-320hp I'd have thought would be rather impressive and as said. We don't know how hard the R1 was really trying...

Well we need the OP to clarify.

Op, did you really get dusted in your 850bhp/tonne R1 against a 'suggested' 270bhp/tonne (based on 400bhp and 1.48 tonnes) 3MPS?
