I am putting one on as well, there is a debate over the best one to fit as the MK2 Winglets would appear to work better. I do prefer the more discrete MK1.

The MK1 splitter is £40-50 but the fitting kit is more.

ok I have been quoted by Fibreon:

Front ‘D’ Shaped Splitter @ £84.50 + Vat

‘T’ Bar @ £45.50 + Vat

I'd be interested to hear peoples opinions on Mk1 / Winglets, just would be good to know if it's worthwhile doing.

One of the fit things i noticed when driving the tuscan was the front end lifting when the throttle is released. Someone on another thread commented how the lip spoiler erradicated this so i'll be fitting one on his recomendation.

By looking at the spoiler it appears it goes under the actual engine bay and direct air under the car as opposed to being directed into the engine bay itself?

I can't comment on the winglets but I can tell you that the 'D' shaped plate makes a huge difference. Before it felt floaty at speed, positively skittish. After, much more planted.

I'm now deliberating over a boot lip or spoiler.

I've fitted both front & rear spoilers to my mk1. I noticed the most benefit from the front. The car is soooo much more stable at speed now - I'd not be without it. Raceproved in Sheffield manufactured and fitted my front spoiler - including the most important front bolt that attaches the splitter to the car just behind the number plate.

How heavy is the splitter? Just wondering if it was the weight stopping front end lift or a genuine aerodynamic benefit.

Is that price supply and fit? Painted body colour or just black?

Supply only, fitting is a bh and supplied in GRP. Looked at it last year, currently can't make my mind up on this one, or making a carbon one. Factory they were painted black, well everyone I have seen has been, and they weigh a bit too.

I can't see how it would make such a big difference, but everyone I talk to swears by it. Rens fitted Mk2 winglets I think when I was looking at it before.

I was also looking at a foam centred carbon fibre splitter from carbondelight.co.uk looks good and sounds a lot lighter too but its £250.

The front splitter on the racer keeps the front end more stable at higher speeds, reduces understeer in medium/high speed corners, helps to reduce the front tyres from overheating and reduces my lap times by letting me get on the power much earlier in the corners.

how much for just the parts from raceproved? interested in which spoiler you went for for the rear? the bit that puts me off is the back and looks so nice without...im definitely not as keen on the 's' bootlid frown

Hi

You need both bits, the D shaped bit is the actual splitter that you see on the MK1 S front. The T bar is needed to fit it, the bar goes in the engine bay and the splitter bolts to it.

hope that helps,

Neill

Thanks Gents,

In terms of handling then it sounds like people definitely think its worth it!

In terms of bang for buck i cant help thinking that the winglets are bloody expensive though!! They cant cost more than £30 a piece to make surely.

Splitter seems more reasonable i guess.
