Philip Stein watches
Discussion
Has anyone any experience of these?
They have been featured in a FT article today, supposed to help sleep. But they appear quite attractive too.

I know quite a bit about these, friend of mine used to sell them, and his missus won't be without hers. I think it's all in the mind, but she swears it helps her relax and get to sleep.
They also make a crystal stick thing that you put in a glass of wine, that just somehow makes it taste better. I tested it myself and it works. I have no idea how or why, it just does.

You're going to be outed as a nutjob in a moment.
Is the crystal thing made of sugar or other flavourings? Maybe it's slowly melting?
No, I thought it might just be because you're supposed to whisk it, therefore aerating the wine. So I got a plastic swizzle stick and did the same thing. Nope. The Philip Stein thing was better. Is the crystal thing made of sugar or other flavourings? Maybe it's slowly melting?

Then I poured a new glass, and just left them both there, no stirring. After 3 mins, the crystal one just tasted better. I was so sure there was a con going on, maybe there was somehow and I couldn't work it out, but it really was nicer with the $325 glass stick in it. It also worked with orange juice, bizzarely.

What type and quality of wine was it, out of interest? Then I poured a new glass, and just left them both there, no stirring. After 3 mins, the crystal one just tasted better. It passed what I would call a "blind test", my wife doing the stirring with two identical glasses of wine (it was a Chilean Merlot - at about $15USD a bottle, brought to the event by the caterers who were nothing to do with Philip Stein btw) and passing them to me to ask which was best.
She then did it again but stirred both with the same stick, and they both tasted the same. It was absolutely bizarre, and I was determined not to "fall" for it, but it demonstrably worked.
Oh, and it was being given away free with a purchase of any watch in the range, so it wasn't like they were trying to justify the price tag. The stuff they say about the watches is harder to test. I certainly wasn't going to fork out what they were asking for one just to try it!

I don't suppose anyone would like to buy some EarthPebbles (TM)? They will make your trousers feel light and airy - as if you'd spent £100's more on your clothes than you actually have. Others will subconsciously detect the benefits of these pebbles as you will stand taller, move more easily and generally exude more confidence.
These specially selected EarthPebbles (TM) have been beach rolled for millenia, gently infusing them with the sound and spirits of the ocean. Only EarthPebbles(TM) can truely bring these benefits to you.
Simply place the one earth pebble in each pocket and wear for 4 hours, then remove the pebbles and the trousers will instantly feel much lighter.
£30 for a set of two pebbles + P&P. ++
HereBeMonsters - how many will you take?
Coming next month: EarthWatchPebble(TM), a 3lb wrist mounted EarthPebble(TM) that will render any monster watch you wear as light as a feather. Only £99.99 + P&P +++
++ EarthPebbles(TM) will become available after I return from a walk along Chesil this weekend.
+++EarthWatchPebble(TM) must be worn continuously for a minimum of 4 weeks before effects are noticable.
