OK,

The first in an occasional series of threads dedicated to identifying the odd rusty items at the bottome of my box of obsure rusty bits!

I would be really grateful if anyone can identfy any of these.

If it helps, there are 2 of "C" and I think it has something to do with the door hinges.
B might be a strengthening plate that holds the door lock striker plate and goes in the wheel arch?
I was wondering whether E could be a dynamo bracket.

To help with scale, I photographed them on a spare bit of roofing felt.

Part A looks like an exhaust hanger, E is a dynamo/alternator bracket.

B Looks like an inner hinge plate, on inner part of vixen door / door hinge
C is a Door hinge limiting strap to stop the front door opening too much and fouling the front wing
D is a Spare wheel retaining strap

All Vixen.

Not come across t'other ones

OK, in that case I have a couple missing. Not hard to replicate though!

That makes sense. The other one was bolted onto a spare hinge, so I thought it had to have something to do with it.

Ahhh! So it needs a treaded rod to hold the wheel down?

Are there 2 column mounts?

My column looked like this before I stripped and rebuit it

I assumed that the bracket at the top was some sort of mounting

If that is the way that the column mounts, does it attach to the back of the dashboard.. and if so, how?
I was wondering why the steering wheel was so "loosely" mounted. I was considering a second mount in the engine bay similar to that used on a V6.

My S3 has a similar bracket clamped to the steering column using a jubilee clip, then screwed into the back of the dash. An additional bracket in the engine bay is on my todo list. Some of the Vixen racers have done this, mind you they hold on tighter!!!!!!

As far as I can tell, there are no signs it was attached to the back of the dash - no screw marks etc. I have yet to work out that particular puzzle!
