Hi Guys,

Just got my first kit car which has a ST170 with ZX9R carbs. Already been thinking into how I can get some more power out of the engine as it is completely standard at the moment.

Can anyone point me in a good direction to start?

Cheers
Craig

How much you got to spend ?

Head work, cams, DTH TB'S and management, bigger bore/pistons etc etc etc

TBH a session on a good and honest rolling road to find out if there is any thing left in there worth pulling out ! then it depends how deep your pockets are. Whats the car ? MK ,GBS Zero ,Westy, Catvan ?

Not wanting to sound rude, but you wont get much for £500.

agreed £500 is i'm afraid scratching the surface...a pair of cams will be about that and then you'd need a remap which depending on how much time is involved is likely to be £250-300. i'd imagine that set up right as it stands it should give 175/185, to squeeze more is possible but frankly i think you'll chase your tail: cams, head, zorst all dependant on each other to maximize the benefit from each and then you're into 1500-2k.

You could put a bottle on it for some giggles for £500......

A half decent exhaust manifold (assuming it's using a standard or budget item) and a rolling road session to set up carbs and ignition (I assume it has mapped ignition at present, megajolt?). For your next £500 maybe a pair of cams. Then you can save your pennies for fuel injection. Expensive game is tuning engines.

Yeah its running with Megajolt at the moment. I will be booking myself into Bogg Brothers when I am home for a rr session and the carbs to be set etc so that's a start I guess. It really is an expensive game frown
