For the past few days my Astra van has developed a problem, on tickover at normal running temp and with the revs picking up to approx 1800rpm the oil light comes on, while driving it isn't on at all, yes I have checked the obvious and the oil level is just under the max.
Have plugged in my code reader and no codes present, any ideas?

Try the peddle test? Hold down brake and gas, switch on ignition. Does the spanner light flash out some codes?

NO, haven't tried that but as my code reader doesn't show up any why would that test?

Pointless looking for fault codes as it isn't linked to the ecu. Check the wiring hasn't worn through and shorting out. The sensor isn't leaking which will also cause a short, the sensor is fubared, or it's a mechanical fault.

The pressure switch that screws into the block are renowned for leaking through the inside of the switch causing it to falsely activate the oil warning light, or it could just be faulty. That would be what I would check first.
