My 94 Chim 400 has had a slight misfire for a week, today while driving along, the engine cut out but restarted straight away. About a mile down the road it stopped and now won't restart.

I've already got some magnecors and extenders on order and I've swopped out the rotor arm for a new (genuine) spare I had in the boot. I've checked the leads and dizzy and nothing looks obviously out of place. Not had time to do any proper investigation like checking for sparks at the plugs.

Could this be the ignition module and/or coil gone? I can hear the fuel pump priming so I think the relays are ok.

I have changed the diff bushes recently (tip from me......get someone else to do it!!) if I havn't put back the speedo sensor properly would I get these symptoms?

Any help/thoughts appreciated.

First thing is to check if there is a spark, I guess there isn't.

If there is, you need to check fuel delivery.

If no spark, possibly the spark amplifier or the coil.

The tiv wiring isn't the best imho, so check the under bonnet wiring for any chaffing or short circuits.

Just done some testing.

No spark at plugs
No spark at king lead
Primary coil resistance 1.0-1.2 ohms
Secondary coil resistance 16.4 M ohms!

I take it my coil is knackered? Will this have taken out my ignition module too?

Thanks

Rob.
