Another who leaves their Griffith outside in winter thread

I know it has been asked before but how many people leave their Griff outside and use it in winter and it still prove reliable.

You may rightly construe I believe that leaving a TVR out in all weathers is a crime. I've not got or had a Griff but all TVR's are getting on a bit now and deserve a warm garage in their dotage

Mine lives outside, no problems so far.



I do make a point of driving mine at least once every two weeks even if it is just around the block in winter

Hi,

Thanks for the very welcome and encouraging replies. If I ever do it the car will be used once or twice a week for a 10 mile one way commute to work as I cycle the rest of the time. I'm a great believer in the adage that regular use improves reliability, just wondering if once a week is enough.

I have owned my griff twelve years and it always lives outside . It has never failed to complete a journey even with minimal servicing .

There is a misconception that your car is safe in a garage.

Problem with a garage is air flow, if the car goes away damp and in some climatic conditions the humidity is high then it stays damp... damp may = tin worm. At least outside in these conditions airflow can dry the dampness....

I believe they don't deserve to live outside, rareity and all that....


There was one local to me sat in a garden, the guy lost his job and it sat there for about 4/5 years, he wouldnt sell it, next thing i know its be repode and sold as a non runner, with a believed cracked block, dash missing and very scruffy chassis......


Still went for £7k though !!!!!

Perhaps that concept is peddled by those that don't have a choice. I can't imagine a single TVR owner who has spare garage space would leave their car out in all weathers because it's better for it. However that has to be balanced out by the fact that if you don't have a garage it's no reason not to buy and run one too, you're a long time dead not to.

I f you leave it outside and it rains a lot, tyhen you don;t use it for a few weeks yuoi may find your discs are warped. Happened to us once when we had 2.5 weeks away.

I have a garage, but if the car is wet/damp and I know I'm not going to use it for sometime I leave it for a bit

You left it in the rain for two weeks and the discs warped?

What really happened, FFG? A race along the dual carriageway, cooked the brakes and didn't tell Mrs FFG?

No I didn't. It wasn't used for 3 weeks and it rained almost constantly. Whether it was just the way te rain was hitting the car but it warped at least 2 of the disks and they weren't old.
