Thinking of upgrading the sound system ready for the drive to Le Mans.
I upgraded the head unit with another Sony unit a short while ago. The sound is quite good but at normal motorway speeds the bellow from the exhaust means that you need to crank up the volume and then get distortion.
I want to keep the same speaker configeration. My audio man's suggested some Focal speakers with direction adjustable tweeters and an amp. Sounds good to me but where would you put the amp?
He's suggested on the floor but with the waterproof characteristics of a sieve I don't think this is a good idea. Anyone else have an amp if so where did you put it?
thanks

I have to say I was shocked when I herd the sound of the STD noble. Mine had the speaker upgrade and sounds good. It has a great deep base and doesn't have an AMP.
I would say the best thong to do is sound proof the doors and put decent speakers in. The power from the unit should be plenty good enough.

Here's what I did a couple of weeks ago
Edge 4 channel amp from halfords screwed to the passenger side of the tunnel, Rockford fosgates speakers in the front of the door and I have bought a set of five inch Rockford fosgates to go behind the seats, I was going to put them in the rear of the doors but it was never going to work that well

Thanks for the input.
Not sure what the standard speakers are but mine and Sony Xplod but not sure of the spec.
Think I'll try the speaker upgrade first and then look at an amp later

Trust me Paul it does work. Dynomat the inside of the doors and fit a decent tweeter and 2way.Not sure what the standard speakers are but mine and Sony Xplod but not sure of the spec.

The std Noble upgrade was JL audio for the tweeter, but can't remember what make the other one was.
Had mine booming away this morning on route to work, had to turn it down after a while just to make sure the car was still running
