anyone tinted ultima lexan/poly as i thought i once heard that its not possible to tint lexan in general? due to long term chemical reaction????

Just my side lexans are compound curved which make the top of them more sun exposed (as they become part of the roof sculpture) and fook do they transmit alot of radiant solar heat.

so can i tint lexan, and then next prob is the compound i have? or any other ideas?
thanks

I have a set of tinted side screens on my GTR, they are made from tinted polycarbonate sheet, rather than a tint applied to clear.

Why dont you call Fran and ask him to whip you up a custom set?

its ok, a company oop north holds the moulds for all the lexan parts including the rear screen and front light covers as most parts have changes.

Will call my man and see if this is possible to full tint but the windows have a "tint" already.

Be careful what tint you apply. When I put my Dakar kit through SVA the polycarbonate window had no tint as such but only just passed the test.

Craig: my stock side windows have been tinted for two years. They look like the day I did them. My only caveat is to relieve the tint so that you can see all of the mirrors without being 1/2 way into the tint. This will require a bit of an odd curve. Mine split the mirror and it is distracting when you look at the mirror. The car is way more pleasent here in So Cal on days with huge sun. Go for it, Lee

although the plexi can have a tint in the process i dont believe its that effective in solar heat reduction.
spoke to my polycarbonate man who always cleans poly with lighter fluid, and never anything with ammonia.

he also recommends letting the poly breath for a good six months as it gasses for a while and can react to the tint adhesive.
my side plexi has a double curve but a guy who called to see me recons he can do it as long as the plexi will take decent heat from a heat gun...

As I said in my post, I have driven the car with and without the tint. The car is much more pleasent with the reduction of glare the tint on the first 5 inchs of the front glass and about the same on the side glass provides. I might add we see more heat and direct sunlight in Southren California in a week, then you guys see in England in a year. Not meant to be a insult just a fact. Is it a low E application, no. I watched the side windows being done and no heat was applied, just talent. I might add that the much lower sun angles that you have in England might even make the use of the tint more desriable. At least here in the summer the sun at mid day is within 20 degrees of being directly overhead and therefore the driver is in the shadow of the roof. Lee
