Mondeo, offside rear (disc brakes). Constant squeak (quite piercing) when underway. Stops when the car is turning left or when pressure applied to brake pedal. Any idea what it could be and how to stop it?

Used to get something similar on my Boxster from time to time. Always assumed it was a stone/piece of grit caught somewhere as it would literally come and go totally out of the blue for a journey or two at a time.

I know some pads have wear indicators which squeal when pad level is getting low - could it be something to do with that? I suppose if you run them for long enough on the indicators it could cause what you are describing.

Could be wrong though.

Could be the pad material has delaminated. Are the pads old or worn?

My old Fiesta used to do this at low speeds until the discs and pads had a bit of heat in them. Does it stop when the brakes have warmed up or does it get worse?

Stuck piston or slider possably ? when you tuen a corner the slight play in the bearing will make a gap between the pad and the disc, my Lucida does this and has done for ages although there's no play in the bearing.

Interesting, mine also does this on my ST. Same wheel!

Exactly the same with my fiesta.
Comes and goes from time to time.

Last time I had this it was a tiny bit of tarmac stuck between the disc and the tin shield that keeps crud off the disc. Take the wheel off, turn full lock one way and see if there's anything in there.

Same thing happens in my Ferrari. Pads were only a few months old when it started happening. Very annoying! I've also heard this happen on a rolls Royce phantom!

OP says it's a constant squeak, which I read as not just under braking as most of you seem to be presuming? If you had a constant high piercing squeak coming from a Ferrari or Rolls I imagine you get it sorted pretty quick!

Check the pins aren't sticking, or alternatively, that they're not loose enough to allow the pad to move out of position.

More than likely sticking pins or a pad not free to move in the caliper. Removing the pads, cleaning everything up & lubricating as appropriate should cure the problem.

Often the little thin metal flanges that go between the pads and the retaining pins are the culprit - bits of grit or just out of alignment.

As said above, take the pads out and check the thickness. Replace. Copperease the retaining pins. Re-assemble. 90% of the time the squeal will go, mainly because of the re-assembling of the flanges.
