Hi,

I'm new to the forum but have had my Chimaera from new in 2000 without any problems whatsoever.... admittedly she only comes out on dry sunny days!
Due to a house move last year, the car was outside over the winter (under an anorak!) and has been sadly neglected. I came to move the car yesterday but without any luck. Here are the symptoms ....if you can help, please let me know!

1. Car has been on a trickle charge so battary is OK, lights, fans etc work OK
2. Turn ignition on but do not get the usual fuel pump priming "buzz" for 3 or 4 seconds. This was the first indication I had that something wasn't quite right.
3. The car does not turn over - it's totally dead (apart from dash lights, fans etc).
4. I thought initially it might be the relays to the fuel pump so tried swapping the two around (Bosch variety) - no change.
5. I'ma bit of a mechanical novice (despite appreciating it!) so thought that if it was actually a fuel pump / relay issue the car would at least try and start even if it was starved of fuel...... my focus turned to the immobiliser
6. It's a Meta immobiliser. Have tried pressing the button on the key fob (after which I would normally expect to hear the fuel pump priming) .... nothing.
7. Tried putting the rectangular "thing" in the steering column .... nothing. The small LED on the steering column doesn't appear to be coming on at all.
8. Tried disconnecting the battery (positive) and then reconnecting and immediately pressing the key fob...... nothing
9. Have checked all the relavent fuses in the main fuse board (I think!) - they all seem OK.
10. I read somewhere on this forum that holding button on the key fob down for 30 secs would reset things (after setting off the alarm), so as a last resort I tried this .... no alarm but it didn't appear to make any difference either.

If it's something straightforward I'm more than happy to "have a go"! My next step would be to try and by pass the immobiliser but I'm not sure where to start with doing that! Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Stuart

Try disconnecting the battery for 20 secs which will re-set the alarm/immmobiliser as it sounds like that is the problem but if that doesn't work contact Carl as said above.
