Does anyone know of a website that shows petrol stations in France? We are taking a rural route and the Tuscan is quite thirsty for Super Unleaded, it would be handy to plan stops in advance.

HI blueg33 im taking the tuscan on the back route again and ive never found it a problem just dont leave it untill your nearly out.

I carry a 10 litre can in the boot, but I guess I like to plan. I never had a problem in the Ginetta which had a 10 gallon tank and did 16-18mpg, so in some ways I think I will be fine in the Tuscan, but its a new route for us this year

Just remember that the Monday is a public holiday and many garages will close early on the Sunday, so on the Sunday and Monday getting fuel will be less simple. Answer: fill up on Saturday.

Just to be clear, Monday 13 June, the day after the LM 24, is a public holiday in France. This will mean that it will be quiet and the petrol stations will be busy on the Sunday and many will close that day around 4:00 pm. Those on the A routes are likely to remain open. Others maybe be credit card pumps only ie no staff. As for Rouen, I agree but I wouldn't bank on it!

Solution? Fill up no later than Saturday morning. I'd use the petrol station beside the aerodrome at Le Mans.

Yes, as Easter was late this year so is Pentecost
Confused as it is a moveable day most of the others are fixed.
The garages in Rouen are open and of course you have the 24/24 credit card pumps which I find more convenient in a RHD as you don't struggle to pay, assuming no passenger.

Can you not just take a can of octane booster if you are worried super unleaded might not be widely available?

The unmanned Esso station on the road parallel to the Seine in Rouen is always fairly cheap and accepts UK cards.

Jerry cans and alike are banned in France, you are not allowed to take fuel with you outside your petrol tank, i would expect they give you a fine if you do.

At least i think that is correct.

I don't think I'd have room for Jerry cans in the car as well as Vicky's cases

Really? I have been doing that for years. You would think that in a large mostly rural country that they would allow it.

only this which makes no mention of it as an offence

Plus 1 - I buy 10 litres for my lawn mowers all the time and whist there is notice for the type of container at filling stations nothing about carring it in a car.
Most supermarkets have a 24/24 pump but garages just tend to shut shop.
