Landlord voluntary bankruptcy

Finally our landlord has gone bankrupt and our letting agent has given us us 2 months notice. A couple of queries if i may... Should we have had something in writing confirming this? As we will leave at the start of July, is it "worth" paying final months rent (the deposit was only half months rent) can we apply to the court for a "stay of execution" or should we contact the lenders and advise we are tenants here and we could offer to purchase the property or pay rental to them? I appreciate that the lenders just want the mortgage payments and are not in the letting business! The property is in Scotland.
