Which shifter for G25?
Discussion
Well, after some spirited drifting on GT5, the flimsy, clacky shifter on my Logitech G25 has finally broken. It's well out of warranty, so will open it up and see if I can fix it, but even so I'm tempted to replace it with something more worthy of the rest of the G25!
What are the options for a new shifter, bearing in mind I want full manual 6 sp, a step up in quality and feel from the G25 one (shouldn't be hard
) and a sequential mode a bonus - anyone with suggestions or experience? Altrezia, I'm looking at you
?
Cheers!

Ha ha, moi?!
I've got two. A home-made one, and an SST. They're both pretty good, but the SST is the one that has stayed connected to my rig for the longest time.
The SST is made of metal, and feels much more solid than the G25. It's a USB device, so you can only use it on the PC. There isn't any other option than the G25 s
t-fter when using a Playstation.
I would say, however, that I'm actually now looking for a decent sequential shifter rather than either of my H-patern ones, as I think I'd use it more. It doesn't feel 'right' using a H-Patern when racing modern racing cars (it is GREAT for the classic or road-car races in rFactor though!)
If you're local you're welcome to borrow both and see what takes your fancy.

My first reaction would be a Lightning SST by Sim Gear as mentioned above, however Altrezia's home made example looks superb, and very similar to that which is offered by Frex (££££!). Tbh if you don't have the skills to manufacture a shifter liked that shown above, then I would probably say the SST is the best around.
Re-teading the OP's post, it does sound like he wants to play GT5 with it, meaning replacing his shifter with another G25 item is the only answer (well, unless he wants to go Fanatec or something and replace the lot).
Fanatec have a Clubsport Shifter set available soon - but again, it's not going to be something that plugs into a G25. I imagine it'll be USB + Fanatec Input only.

If you clicki on the shifter tab at the top of the page, it lists a shifter which is compatible with PC and PS3-GT5. Only trouble is this stuff is very good, but £££££££££

The GBP has gone tits-up against the Yen over the last 3 years or so - in 2007 it would have been half that. http://www.frex.com/gp/

Thanks for all the replies chaps, looks like I will try to fix the G25 unit then - I'm mainly a PC racer, but I have been enjoying GT5 for the last few months so looks like that's the best option.
Having said that, the Fanatec systems have been getting some good reviews....
...something to think about!

. Same for Fanatecs now that the Euro has appreciated against the pound too unfortunately!
