A crowd of us are off to Monaco on Friday for the weekend. We havnt bothered booking tickets for the Grandstand because firstly they are so expensive and secondly no one could be bothered sitting down for the race.

Our thought was that we could find a bar somewhere in Monaco with a TV, enjoy the tv coverage with the stereo sound of the cars in the background with a beer in hand; i have tralled the internet to find said bar but have drawn a blank!

Has anyone done this or recomend a bar close to the track?

Stars and Bars is your best bet - It's located right next to the paddock.

They have some pass/reservation scheme. But i'd say it's probably the best place to watch it on TV.
(they're better trackside places to watch the race - but they cost lots )

3 decades ago we watched qualifying free from the grounds of the palace - swimming pool to La Rascasse.

I would imagine that it would be difficult to prevent similar free viewing there today unless Albert has installed a turnstile.

This; or alternatively your next best bet is to don some swinwear and hope you can blag your way into one of those rooftop pools they always have camera angles from wink

good luck with that - they all charge and issue passes (think they even charge guests) !
