Great piece by Delingpole...

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/...

...I would say that the man has captured the essence of the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Its a good article.

It was interesting, if a little annoying, to see the yanks get conned by polished spin and lies, just the same way we were here, by Blair and the other control freak liars.

Yes, the tactic of vaccuous tts everywhere is to desperately latch onto some tenuous link to a proper identity. And the red carpets and bunting travel is the go-to distraction for any premier failling miserably with their day job.

Dellingbole is probably also right that Obama doesn't much care for the UK, but as we potentailly head towards the scene of our next default, putting the "special relationship" under a more distanced and cold scrutiny might not be such a bad idea for us. Lets face it, even when Unle Sam was our best mate, post WW2, he properly shafted us with the reparations deal.

I agree that this is a ridiculous stunt by Obama.

Delingpole, however, is an absurd little polemicist. He used to be a sensible commentator of the right and a good music reviewer. At about the time he mutated into a polemicist, Radiohead, the band he had hitherto showered with praise, released Kid A. He could not cope with it and it did something to his mind. Since then, both his music reviews and his political writing became plain silly.

As an example, in that article he suggests (he doesn't state it) that Obama calls himself Al-Barak Hussein Obama to reach out to the Muslim world. In fact, the only people ever to have used that bdisation of his name are the moronic "birthers" in the US.

It is bloody funny though, even being black is no bar to a US President claiming Irish blood hehe

At least he's drinking his pint (unlike the Queen and Prince Philip last week).

You've obviously never been in a Muscat hotel bar the night after the festival of Eid - the end of Ramadan.

Delingpole can't be diagnosed in such general terms.

He's not wrong over AGW and Obama.

For a trip with so much planning, this is a monumental cock-up. Someone is going to lose their job:

Ah but did he?

When Mad old Dubya came to meet Phoney Tony in Sedgefield, much was made of the Warmonger-In-Chief having a traditional pub lunch...It was actually shipped in from elsewhere, so the jungle drums said at the time.

That's the Taosiseach (God help us all).

One word summed up the Queen's visit - dignity.

Two words sum up Obama's visit - cringe-making.
