We've all driven over them but i'm about to move to a new est in basingstoke which has loads of the b5ggers,its on standard height settings on the springs so i'm hoping that it will clear them.Anybody have trouble with them, the ones where you go up for about 7 yards then drop down again
just a bit worried
cheers

I've been quite impressed. I haven't found one my Chim won't clear yet and one of the other cars I looked at was in an area of South London with speed bumps everywhere. The S-Series, in contrast, used to ground at the slightest ripple, care of that under-slung exhaust.

I have no trouble with 'Speed Tables' as you describe. Speed Humps I prefer to take at an angle just in case the builder has got it a bit high. I have graunched on a few when going straight over them. Speed Pillows are a problem if you cannot take them at an angle. There is one at my local leisure centre that is in the middle of a width restriction that I am unable to cross.

Try and avoid humps that are not on level ground and have a significant downward slope on the far side as the nose of your car will dip downhill before most the dangly bits underneath have passed over the hump.

Edit: and oh yes take them s l o w l y as any bounce on the shocks can lead to the chin of the car hitting the ground.

Most speed bumps are fine if you take them slowly, and the speed "tables" should be no problem. I find the worst bumps are the small angular ones you sometimes get in carparks or service stations - the ones that look like someone's glued a giant rubber Toblerone to the ground. Those are so abrupt that they can cause you to bounce on the springs as you come off them, so they need to be taken extremely slowly.

the big long "speed tables" are ok, i do have some trouble with the ones your supposed to straddle, if i dont come down slowly off the front wheels my exhaust hits when the suspension compresses.

When we were looking for a house about 4 years ago we discounted at least 2 houses because they were on roads with massive speed humps!
