Evening all,

I would of used the search function to search for this, but it doesn't seem to be working for me today!

Anyway, I'm on the hunt for a, you guessed it. . . Seiko Samurai. It seems to of become my new "grail watch". I had a very close eye on a white faced Samurai on WUS, but it had been sold within an hour. Not good.

Has anyone on here ever had any experience with the Samurai and where on earth do you find the things!?

I think there are a few of us on here that either own or have owned a Samurai, al1991 and Andy Tims amongst others. Never had one myself but they're supposed to be a class act.

You a member on TZ? They occasionally pop up there.

The Samurai is an excellent watch.

However bear in mind they command a bit of a premium for a watch with an auto movement that doesn't hack or hand wind. I think it's the same movement that's in the Monster and the 007.

That's why I went for a Sumo (plus titanium watches don't appeal to me), though I know Andy Tims has had a few Samurais so if he pops by he'll be able to tell you more.

This link will tell you more about the watch - http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t...

This is the last one I saw for sale and it was mega cheap. They can often go for up to £500 on eBay and I think that's too much. - http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t...

I had a Limited Edition Samurai. Sold it a month or so back. The limited editions are super rare and command a slight premium over the regular ones. They do tend to pop up on ebay from time to time. It was an excellent watch and I only sold it as it wasn't getting any wrist time due to not wanting to damage it.

Great input chaps, very much appriciated!

I've had a look on Amazon funnily enough, but I've never been too keen on the white dial (could just be me being fussy). I must admit though, £350 does seem a tad steep. Then again, I presume being sold through Amazon that It's new?

I am indeed a member on TZ, but haven't quite got the post count to pop a 'wanted' advert on. Can't believe I missed the titanium one for that much! Whenever one does come up for sale, It's gone in a matter of minutes.

Again, thank you!

  • Edit - Just found a black dialed, titanium Samurai with no original box. Is £220 a fair price, chaps?

I'd say so. Quick search on TZ shows a blue one minus box and papers sold for an asking price of £225 with comments from others saying it could have gone for a lot more, including a comment from Tia Mi Shu (Vicky) who knows her Seikos!

Sounds pretty reasonable then. Slight downside. . .

It's already sold, after 7 hours of being up.

Not trying to rub it in Marvin, but you should have snapped that up!

Keep your eyes peeled, you will find one.

It took me 4 months to find a Seiko Italian and I now have a pristine example sat on my wrist as I type smile

Chaps, it seems that during my hunt for a Samurai I may of bought something else. . .

Seller's picture:

A Seiko SKX339K. It wasn't what I had my heart set out on at first, but I saw the pictures and I was instantly smitten. Turn's out It's quite a rare bird as well.

As for the Samurai, I think I can wait a few months. None the less, thank you very much for the advice! I am a very happy bunny!

biggrin
