Yes, yet another insurance renewal quote up by a ridiculous amount.

2007 MX5, 32 year old, clean licence, good postcode up by £200, jolly good!

I'd be very interested to know if there are any of you out there, insuring everyday cars who have actually had a decrease in their insurance this year?

Yes, but I'm 19, so it's mostly due to being a year older, having a year more NCB and having held my licence a year longer.

Insurance companies made a rather big loss over the last year, as they often do, so the increase is natural to compensate for this.

Exactly the same. From £1200 -> £950.

But then my renewal was £1300... jokers.

I've managed to decrease mine by adding a second car.

Last year, Jag XJ8 (38 year-old male, bad postcode but garaged, clean license, full no claims) - £900

This year, Jag XJ8 plus Pork Boxster S, through Admiral Multicar £700.

I got it to just about stand still. I could have got a cheaper premium but they wanted an £850 excess vs. the £250 on the policy I went with. Took alot of haggling and 'phoning around this year.

Yes, but only via the Meerkats. Reduced mine by £50ish over last year on an A5 to just under £300.

I was pleasantly surprised by my renewal for my Capri.

its only a 2 litre so its a low insurance group but it was within about £10 of last year

£210 fully comp, 5,000 limited mielage with an agreed value of £3,500 (a bit on the low side I thought but hey ho)

I went through Adrian Flux.

I did alright this year. Started off in an MX5 for £750, got a Volvo S60 2.0L Turbo at an extra cost of £100. Up three groups for pocket money, not bad. My insurers have always been great to deal with over the phone too, like when I was arranging the transfer my policy from the Mazda to the Volvo.

The year before that, my 1.6 petrol Focus Zetec cost me £1300!

Yes.

My renewal was a lot more, but I shopped around and ended up getting it cheaper then I paid last year. Not by much, but about 10% or so. Same car, no difference in no claims (already have full) and I'm already very old so I can't explain it really.
