Hello all,

My first post here in the BMW section. I've just been to see a rather nice Z4, but I left feeliing a little unsure about the car because of the look of the chassis number. I managed to get a shot of it on the mobile:

I've blurred the number for obvious reasons, but is it me, or is that clearly a sticker with fake 'rivets' on it. I ran my finger over it and you hear/feel the air bubbles in it. The dealer seemed pretty genuine with plenty of stock, but this seems too obviously fake to me. This is the first Z4 I've seen so far and maybe they're all like that so I thought I'd post here for an opinion.

Thanks in advance, Paul.

It is stamped into the metal with a clear plastic sticker over the top.

Ahh, that could explain it. It's a cunning way of making a genuine number look fake!

Thanks.

There should also be the same code visible through the windscreen, just below where you stick the tax disc, so you can easily check if they match each other and the V5C.
