Just the heads up for classic car owners enjoying a day out in Somerset, our village garage has a licence to sell good old fashioned four star leaded, on the forecourt. It is on the A39 between Minehead and Bridgwater ( just outside Bridgwater). I have no connection with the garage,I just think if your going to take your classic for a good long weekend run, it wont do the car any harm. They are starting to revue stocking it due to low sales. It would be a shame to lose it.

Just looked up garages with leaded petrol and it looks like Greenway Garage, Quantock Road, TA5 2AX. Tel 01278-423261.

Sorry should have been more specific, yes it is Greenway garage. Its on the right about a mile out of Bridgwater when you are heading towards Minehead

Wow! The first entry is a few miles from my house! I had no idea. I even drive past this place to buy lead additive!

My car is going to get a treat this weekend.

Thanks

Just out of interest, how much does it cost?

That list of garages may be out of date.
I used to get leaded from CHESTNUTS SERVICE GARAGE LTD CRAYS HILL - who are on the list but no longer supply it. Lack of demand - probably due to the cost.

Heaven knows how much it costs now but I would expect it to be around the £2 a litre mark.
I've gone onto additives (ValveMaster).

There is a factory service bulletin floating around that says my car can run on Unleaded but I have had so many differing opinions (from good authorities) that I err on the side of caution.

Andy I saw that service bulletin too, and was told by Maranello that my 308 Dino (carbs) ran with the same valves and seats in the USA, where unleaded was all that was available. This made sense spo I ran it daily for 18 months - a good 15k, and it didn't miss a beat.

Nick Cartwright on the other hand, hardly an ignoramus on things Ferrari, told me they needed leaded fuel. By this time I was moving on anyway.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts.
I too spoke to Maranello at Egham but when leaded was first phased out - they told me to run it on Leaded Fuel...
Knowing Ferrari some cars will have hardened seats, some un-hardened seats and probably some cars will have a mix of hardened and un-hardened seats biggrin
