I bought one of these: http://www.astopwatch.co.uk/products/refereestopwa...

Very basic but can't complain for £12.75 smile

Suunto have some interesting offerings, including HRMs.

E.g. Click.

Decathlon do a massive selection of own brand running watches starting at about a fiver, depends what you want it to do.

Having just recently bought a Suunto core I can highly recommend the brand.

The question you have to ask yourself is whether you want to spend 20 million developing a pen for use in space, or just use a pencil instead.

It comes down to cost really and what you want to do with the watch.

Agreed - all depends on cost. I run with a cheapo digital I bought in Walmart for $12. It has a large display so is easily visible when you are running. That's really all I am worried about. I have checked distances of my routes by driving the route and using the odometer to track the distance. I also use the Mapmyrun website which allows you to map out your route on a map and it calculates the distances/elevations etc.

My running mates wear assorted stuff like a Garmin which tracks distance etc using GPS. Another guy straps his iPhone to his arm in a holder to do the same, though he finds the signal drops (our running routes are mostly rural) and he gets a different distance result each time!
