Help, I am at my wits end with trying to setup my Sky HD box so that I can view it and control it in 3 rooms.

Setup is I have the sat cables down to the box in the lounge, with the HDMI running to the TV there.
Then I have the RF going back up to the loft, through a (Sky compatible) powered 4 way amp down to the other longue and bedroom, both with Magic Eyes on them.

Thsi used to work fine with normal Sky, but I changed to HD and it worked fine for a while but now the remotes in both room won't work.

I changed the magic eyes, I've changed the 4 way amp, I've even had a new HD box, it still doesn't work!!

Someone (clearly reading a script) at Sky tried to tell me that HD boxes won't work with Magic eyes, but it had been.

I am totaly lost now!!

Is there any other way of distributing Sky and controling it?

Cheers.

Is the red light showing on the Magic Eye? Are you outputting the RF from Output 2? They will not work from RF out 1. Maybe the power has gone off? RF Output 2 sends 9v out to power the eyes, check in the setup menu, sometimes it locks out and you have to switch off and then switch on, remember to save the settings.

or have any of the tv connections changed, a simple short between the outer braid and the inner centre conductor can bring the whole thing down.

I will chech 9v is present on all slave tv's
Yes red light is on magic eyes.
Don't think it can be shorted anywhere as free view works in both bedroom and second lounge so signal is there.

It's really odd, i am close to just accepting I can only have sky in main lounge and using cable to stick a freesat box in second!

I have a SKY HD box, and its feeds all of my Tvs (2 at moment+ main HD TV) via a power AMP with RF wire.

Can change channels fine- so it works.

Is the rf settings on from the box? You said it used to work so it must be but check out:

Go to sky menu--> settings--> press 0 then 1 and then select. That should bring you to the installer menu. Make sure rf output is on.

I am 99% sure but I will have another check.

I was kind of hoping someone would tell me of a way to distribute HD by using the existing RF cables and some clever kit?

Even if I can get it to work the RF2 out is crappy old low res UHF, it's be nice to get HD in all 3 rooms.

it possible to send the hd to other rooms but tbh its not cheap at all cheaper to go multiroom your looking quite possibly 30+ for a splitter 130+ for each hdmi/cat6 balun you need one of those for each tv run then a box of cat6 cable then you need to run the cables etc so its not cheap

Already got multiroom in my boys room, can you have 3 boxs?

Bunch of CAT5 cable is nothing really, running it is the problem.

Is there no way of doing it using the coax that's already there?

yes but it costs even more and you would need individual runs to each tv not to a distribution box like you have now

something like these for every room

you could do multiroom sky + HD for 4 tv's easily just by an oct lnb and wire it up
