Hey everyone it mite be a bit of a silly question but iv just got my new suzuki swift sport in Supream red matalic and i really want to buff it up and really get it gleaming for some nice photos but a few friends have told me that japanease cars have really thin paint jobs and that they should never be buffed ?

Iv buffed my previouse cars (all fords) and they have looked great after but this is my 1st jap motor so is jap paint any differen ?

P.S Any detailing tips would be helpful.

Not all Jap brands have thin paint, but most tends to be fairly soff, so is easier to correct with less abrasive products, but equally easy to reswirl if your wash regime isn't thorough.

How swirly is the paint?
Are you talking of hand or machine polishing?

First step is to sort the washing aspect, then feel the paint whilst wet with clingfilm under your fingertips.
If it's "gritty" then you'll need to clay (and detar it), before polishing or using a wax/sealant with fillers to mask the lighter scratches.
