If you haven't already done so, you must try the 135i M Sport Convertible; the engine and the performance it gives the car is awesome - and the handling doesn't give much to complain about. I suggest that most people see the 1 Series as a line of small 3/5 door hatches (notwithstanding the new 1M Coupe); but the 135i models are 'Q' cars.

I've owned many 'performance' cars including a Ford Focus RS Mk1, BMW E46 M3, Porsche 987 3.4 Boxster S, Porsche 996 Turbo, Porsche 997 C4S to name a few; but for the price (and more), the 135i is really impressing me.

They are a quality product, and I suppose because of the fabric roof they are not much heavier than the coupe.

Great all-rounder.

I think the convertible is 150kg or so heavier.

It makes about a 0.4-0.5 second difference to the 0-60 time, so not a massive difference.

I have an N55 135i coupe on loan at present, it really is very quick. It is too tempting to just gun it everywhere though and I am giggling all the time I drive it.

It'll do over 30mpg on a run apparently but not that I have seen that myself (see comment above) hehe

I will probably not end up with a new 135i as a company car as a result of the loan in all honesty but there is a very very good chance I will be buying a used N54 engined 135i or even a 130i as a weekend car...

Drove one when they first came out. Great cars, plenty of power etc.

I found the lumbar support on the sports seats a little to tight for my frame though...

An electric pump, operated by a swich on each front seat base, can be used to adjust the air content of bladders within the side boldters of each seat back. Perhaps you needef to release all the pressure from the bolsters?

Light? Even the coupe version weighs over 1500kg. The convertible is nearly 1700kg, or almost the same weight as the E61 545i Touring I owned!
