Im trying to install a driver for my phone and half way through It keeps stopping and saying

"An error occured during the installation of the device

The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance"

Any ideas what that means?

Sounds like the OS doesn't know which driver it needs for the hardware

Mike - what are you trying to do? Is it like a Nokia Phone driver over infrared or cable?

Bit more details and I can try and help you

Im trying to connect my Mobile (Motorola V525) to the PC via a USB cable. I have a driver on CD which came with the cable, but, when I try and install the driver (Via autodetecting it in "Add new Hardware") i get the above. I have tried this on all my PC's and it sais the same.

Have you looked for a more current driver on the interweb? Drivers on CDs are often obsolete!
