Just thought some people might find this interesting smile

In 2004, when I was 11, my dad's Triumph Stag blew up in a multi story car park. I honestly can't remember it being on the road because I was so young. He has spent the last 6/7 tear replacing the engine and tonight we hooked the battery up and it showed it's first sign of life for over half a decade! Will hopefully get it turning over before the end of the week which is quite an exciting prospect! I just took a few pictures of it sitting in the garage and thought I ought to post them on here smile

That is the best colour for a Stag imo - lovely.

Not a fan of Rover engine in the Stag though - the recognisable noise of the Stag V8 is my favourite thing about the car.

I think the Stag V8 is the nicest low rev v8 sound I've ever heard.

Nice, I've always liked snapdragon yellow.

I notice it has a Rover V8, not the original Triumph 3.0 V8. Has the Rover replaced the Triumph engine that blew up in 2004 or did it blow up the Rover V8?

Owned two Stags; a mk1 auto and a manual mk2. Always like yellow on the Stag. Not a fan of the Rover V8 in it. It will kill value and you will require either an Offenheiser inlet manifold with a Holley on it or a bonnet bulge as my friends would not clear the bonnet.

Manual or auto they are both great but totally different cars to live with. They peaked out on prices about 5 years ago, have slumped and now appear to be going up again... which is a bugger as I have been actively looking for another one. Do keep us updated, the attention to detail looks excellent thumbup

My Dad's got one of these parked outside his house in a semi-restored state, been there for years now; I keep on at him to get it finished, or just pay for someone to do it!

I've only ever been out in it once when he first bought it and the thought of the noise still makes me smile! smile

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone.
The car had a rover V8 in it prior to the engine change so already has the bonnet with a buldge and all the other nessarcery modifications. My dad wants to be able to use it quite often so opted for the rover over the triumph engine because of reliablity smile the original triumph engine does sound great though! The old original back boxes had gone all rusty but we managed to source 2 second hand, aftermarket, back boxes which were in good condition, so will be interesting to see what they sound like! I'll try to dig out some old photos from during the engine change!
Once again thanks for all the comments and I'll keep this thread updated

A valid stance in the '70s but not really these days. The niggles have by and large been ironed out and folk know how to look after the Triumph engines these days (and do so).

It was intact a rover engine that blew up. Quite ironic seen as my dads picked it for it's reliability! Aha
It was a rover V8 when my dad brought it many moons ago so never actually experienced it with the original triumph engine
