Kyle Busch Caught At 128mph In 45mph Limit

NASCAR star publicly apologises after being caught at almost three times the speed limit

Who do you think you are?...
Who do you think you are?...
NASCAR hotshoe Kyle Busch has had to publicly apologise after being caught doing 128mph in a yellow Lexus LFA - in a 45mph zone.

He was caught on Tuesday near Charlotte, North Carolina while test driving the £300k Lexus supercar on public roads.

"Today I received a traffic citation in Iredell County," Busch said in a statement. "I was test driving a new sports car and I got carried away. I went beyond the speed I should have been going on a public road. I apologise to the public, my fans, sponsors, and race teams for my lack of judgment.

...Richard Petty??
...Richard Petty??
"I take responsibility for my actions and I can assure you that something like this will never happen again. I thank the Iredell County Sheriff's Department and all law enforcement for the hard work they do every day to protect the public and to enforce the laws in a fair and equitable manner."

Oops.... is all we can say to that one...

Not much... 3 points and a big fine

Depends on the state really and the mood of the officer who caught you.

Given it was a Toyota he could have probably got away with a sticking throttle defence.

I hope when he said he wouldn't do it again he was referring to choosing a really bad colour for a car...

Don't worry general motors will fabricate some type of story out of this in the coming weeks

Why appologise to anyone?

Reminds me of the "Who do you think you are, Nigel Mansell?" "No, I'm Ayrton Senna" anecdote hehe

Guessing a Lexus LFA since the article says £300k Lexus.
Well, that's one giveaway. The other might be the bit in the first paragraph where it says 'Lexus LFA'.

Because his / the teams publicists said to. No sponsors, no money. Brown nose and grovel at every opportunity seems to be the way forward when you've cocked up in your private life.

Are we to understand that Toyota / Lexus has no test facility in the US? I'm surprised.

I guess the factory fitted radar detector is an optional extra...in a way he's lucky he managed to get back down to 128mph before the cops spotted him.

Good publicity for Lexus, I'm sure it won't do sales any harm.

If convicted, Busch could lose his license for a year and face $1000 in fines.
I sure hope he does. Not because he endangered anyone -- I am assuming here that he was smart enough to choose a deserted piece of road with nobody around. It's just bad form to be a racing driver and do these sorts of things when you should know better and people admire you for your driving.

damn speed cameras. They're just revenue generators. Speeding is safe (etc)
