Electric aerial connections?
Discussion
I will have a look later and let you know unless someone beats me to it.
Interestingly the aerial disappeared into the body on mine when the top nut fell off one day after the mast had jammed and fallen apart. The motor part of it is still in place and due to the amount of wire mesh inside the boot which it is connected to (I assume for grounding/shielding/keeping chickens out?) there is no difference to the signal received so I am about to fill in the hole. The motor whirrs when I turn the radio on and music is produced, nuff said. It seems to work the same as the internal aerial supplied at one time to be mounted in the boot below the soft-top hoop as I think both have a little amplifier in them.

I think that correct. But check to see if the wiring of the new motor is the same as the old.
IIRC, the old design was always on, holding up the mast as it were, unless it was off and the mast came down. New motors (over here anyway) are wired to send an up or down signal. Check your instructions; I think the fix was a jumper on the big white TVR plug behind the radio. I know it didn't require running new wires.
I wrote a detailed description of the wiring fix but it was more than 2 years ago and so is gone. Grady

Well the bolt n washer affair is the earth and the orangey/red is power. However.................if i connect the red and green wires from the aerial together then connect them to the orangey/red wire from the car the aerial goes up. If i then disconnect the green wire from the aerial from the red wire the aerial goes down. This means it's up permanently or down, it isn't controlled by the radio being on or off. The blue wire from the car that goes into the connector you see in my hand appears to do nothing.
Confused?

Exact same thing happened to me now o have an ugly rubber one on place, works a great mind.Interestingly the aerial disappeared into the body on mine when the top nut fell off one day after the mast had jammed and fallen apart. Hi
Now the bolt/black wire is the earth so forget that!
The aerial you are trying to connect is it a auto aerial or a semi auto aerial?
Andy
Well it has black wire for earth, red wire for power and green wire is described as for 'radio on/off'Now the bolt/black wire is the earth so forget that!

Andy
Same wires as the old aerial
Jim
ps semi/auto as opposed to auto???

Well a semi usualy needs a relay were a auto has one built in, or if its a cheap semi (Sorry) it may need a switch i.e. up and down!

I thought my first replacement was defective and returned it.
Look at the wiring diagram for the new one and adjust the wiring at the radio end. I spliced the new ground, both powers and the antenna wires into radio side of the existing TVR connector. But I had to add a jumper to make it work - just don't recall what I had to jump now.

SORTED!!!
Cheers for all the input guys.
managed to get the radio out after borrowing some pioneer removal tools from my local motorist discount shop.
A blue wire from the back of the unit labelled 'system remote' was disconnected from another identical wire that went into a large block connector with all the other radio cnnections.
Connected it and hey presto aerial goes up and down only when swithing radio on/off.
