I passed a marked BMW estate that had pulled a Mondeo tonight around half 5, near the wind farm area.

Also spotted a BMW on the Dumfries and Galloway side this afternoon, presumably turning around at the next junction.

They seem to be out in force around J13 at the moment, as there was a marked BMW sat on the ramp on Sunday afternoon pointing a speed gun at traffic heading south, and there was an unmarked dark blue 5 series that had pulled some around J13-14 on sunday morning, again in the south direction.

And a scamera van Wednesday afternoon checking South-Bound traffic on a fly-over after the steep down-hill sections near the same windfarms under construction.

It was a marked 5 series estate I saw checking cars, so likely the same one that pulled the Mondeo. I spoke to a friend tonight who drives an artic down the M74 each weekday afternoon. There has been marked cars with radar every night this week at J13.

Sounds like they must be running some sort of operation to catch folk heading south at speed?

It's certainly a new thing, as I rarely saw a police car that far south until these past few days!! They'll certainly be catching a few people out on that downhill section....

I've seen the scamera van parked on the bridge at J13 a number of times, but it's usually pointing south to catch folk heading towards Glasgow.

What a waste of resources!

Speed is not an issue on the M74.

If they have spare manpower to run speed traps on the M74 they're perfect candidates for redundancy.

Let your M(S)Ps know where the cuts should fall. smile

No, but the M74 is one of the better arguments for unlimited roads.

yes

100+ is not a problem.

Light traffic, good surface and excellent sightlines.

Agreed chaps, I'm all for speed liberation. It's just been a bit of a crap weather week (or month!) and probably not the best time for a leptonic cruise.

Let's hope the scamerati were ticketing for the good of road safety and not public purse...

They ticket only to preserve their own sorry "jobs".

Sack 'em all!
