X308 buying advice.
Discussion
Hi all, I have spent the last few weeks looking for a nice XJ8 Executive and I think I may have found the one I have been looking for.
Before rushing in and buying the first one I test drove, I have done a bit of homework and found out about the nicasil/steel lined engine. The car I am buying is a late 2000 model, please correct me if Im wrong but I'm thinking that this should be a steel lined engine, but even if it is nicasil it will have spent its life (all 62,000 miles of it) running on low sulphur fuel as this replaced standard unleaded in 2000?.
I havent been to view the car yet but the owners detailed description including a recent profesional touch up to the bumpers costing £300, the good quality photos and the friendly 20 minutes we spent on the phone going over the details, I believe its as nice and honest as what I'm hoping it to be.
This will be my first Jaguar and Im really looking forward to the drive, comfort and build quality. Could anyone please advise me of anything in particular that I should be looking out for when I go to view the car? Do they have common faults I should check for or tell tale signs of something getting ready to pack up? I will be grateful for any help/advice on the matter. regards. KJag

main thing is watch for corrosion around inner front wings & around chassis rails . last thing you want is to be stripping one of these out even for a bit of welding.ive had mine 5 year now but saw some pretty poor ones before . good idea to get it all sorted pronto! i did mines spot on cost £1400 but worth it.
