Is it possible to change in-situ? How much of a bugger of a job is it?

Next to impossible I'm afraid. Had the same issue last year with oil dripping on to the centre box etc. I decided the whole lot would have to come out. Even when the box was out it was awkward - I think it's a job for the xperts as once you start removing bits from the box other bits begin to move about inside and unless you know what you're doing you'll get into deep sheeit!

I don't think so. When I had my box rebuilt some years back, they machined a channel for a proper oil seal, which did a good job of sealing the oil in, although it is now weeping very slightly. I've got a pack of the original O rings if you want to give it a go though.

If you mean the output shaft seal then yes, it can be done in-situ. Remove propshaft, lock the box, remove nut and pull drive flange off. Prise out seal, knock in new one, reassemble in reverse order, drink beer biggrin

If you mean the selector shaft O-ring then as stated, it's a gearbox stripdown to change - and it'll last, oh, minutes... before it weeps again.
