having not talked insurance since i started up a policy on my m3 back in december i thought i'd log back into my confused account and refresh the quote i went with

from £1k last year to £2k if i were to insure now?!

a lot of places asked if i'd ever owned/insured an m3, impreza or skyline, to which i answered no, yet i ended up with the premium i've paid

so now, when i look to insure again, i'll have history of driving and insuring an m3 with (hopefully) no claim record and going from 2yr NCD to 3yr NCD yet i'll be paying double?!

is this the norm or should i be looking at more leftfield insurers?!

Why not ? You should always get quotes from as many places as possible.

Unless your existing insurance provider gives you a similar or cheaper quote, then jump ship.

Most are willing to give a good price to a new customer, and then hike it when renewal comes.

Having said that, i was with Admiral last year and my renewal came in at a few quid less.

All my renewal quotes were almost double last years prices. For a specialist car try A plan, they insured my Evo for half anyone else could with the same cover.

Confused last year for me threw up Admiral as my best £683 (VXR8)

They just sent my renewal...£808. Fair enough, insurance going up blah blah.

Went back onto confused, added my lowered suspension and air filter (on top of the exhaust) and guess what?

£622 from Admiral.
