On certain Porsche models you could just reroute your air pump from the exhaust to the inlet and save $15!

That'll look good down the warranty claims office...

Bolted on a £45 hairdryer and a couple of washers and the engine sucked it in to the exhaust and spat it and the pistons out

At that price it must be shite methinks! While price is no gauge of quality, the product on this site www.electricsupercharger.com/ (looks friggin' identical!) has a lot more explanations on mounting, distribution of electrical loads, etc. Also more credible in that it is designed to work for a few seconds only when you floor it.

I downloaded a couple of the little videos that they have, and admit that the clip of the eram "flying" due to the thrust it puts out impressed me. While I think the claims are credible, I'd be concerned about mixture leanness despite what they say about compensation by the airflow meter.

Let us know if is just snake oil - should at least be slippery if it is!

Be very careful when trying to "bolt on" superchargers, or even Turbochargers onto an existing engine, it shouldn't really be done, there's ALOT to consider- take it from someone who designs and develops superchargeds engines for a living.

There are limits set on how fast you can spin them ( that's why I am dubious by these monkeys who modify the new Mini) and the efficiency of a Roots blower seriously drops when the pressure ratio ( the ratio of pre SC pressure to Post SC pressure)- goes above 2.
Compression ratio needs to be modified, and it is imperative the engine is remapped. To get part load fuel economy you also need to by pass the supercharger at part load.

Don't know what I'm talking about? Well if you're serious about supercharging a motor you SHOULD -else leave it to the experts. Even people- bigger companies who CLAIM to be experts often don't know what they're talking about, you can't learn simply by trial and error!
The afforementioned company who toyed with trying to boost the performance of the Mini Cooper S is a big well known supposedly prestigious company- and they've ended up blowing quite a few engines up!

These electric ones are giving so little boost (1 psi or about 0.07 bar) that all issues of changing compression ratios, etc. are probably non-issues.

Make a damned good hair drier wouldn't it!?

This reminds me of people trying to supercharge air-cooled VW engines years ago by ducting the air from the cooling fan into the air cleaner. Rather than boost they found a very large vacuum that collapsed the tubing.

And there's double stack installation possible. Why stop at 2? Do I hear 4? 8?

The reason the E-ram motor flys is because its actually a ducted fan motor used in model aircraft for Jet engine replicas .

Example of which can be seen here www.moki.co.uk/turbo90.html
