I would recommend West Wittering, this is National Trust Area. It is a very big beach and Grass headland. Good facilities, lots of space for the kids and you can take BBQ along. There is also an very large area of dogs.

There always seems to be rich deposits of females with very little in the way of clothing at Bournemouth, plus the sand is nice!

One thing to remember when visiting the south coast, if the suns shing leave early, very early. Or else you wil be sat in traffic.
And this. Depending on where you're going home to, avoid the A31 -> M27 route like the plague. You will be sat in ALOT of traffic for a long time. Kids will get grouchy, you will get bored.Last time i went to Ringwood, then very briefly onto the A31, Fordingbridge, Salisbury, and from there you can head in a number of directions. It's further to drive (for me) but it was constant progress, and the roads are more fun than a motorway!

Goto Tuckton near Christchurch, then get the foot ferry out to Mudeford Beach. Great area and the kids will love the boat too.
Ahhh I remember going to Tucktonia as a child

never been there. Is it sand or pebbles? How does it compare to Studland, a favourite of mine.And... it is rarely crowded.
