Eddie Kidd's Greatest-Ever Stunt
Stunt bike legend is still tackling the London Marathon - more than five weeks after it finished
Those of a certain age (and fans of using motorbikes to jump over improbable things) will know Eddie Kidd best as a stunt rider extraordinaire, but the 51-year-old is only now tackling what must be his toughest challenge ever.
An accident in 1996 left him severely disabled and wheelchair-bound, but this hasn't deterred Eddie from tackling the 26.2-mile marathon that is, well, the London Marathon. Without a wheelchair.
It's a pretty amazing feat, and Eddie has already raised the £50k for Children With Cancer UK he hoped to achieve, a milestone he passed on Monday.
He has now set his sights on £100k, and he's due to finish on June 6th - so there's plenty of time to support him (which you can do by visiting this web page). Good luck Eddie. PH is behind you all the way!

Being discussed here already: http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...
Its amazing how far bikes and jumping has progressed since then. Just check this out to see:

Hast off to Eddie though - he was pushing the boundaries back then, he just had sh*t bikes and jumps. I mean who jumps off a straight edged jump these days ? no one! except if your years old and using a plank to jump over a mate!

He was a hero as a kid, but even more a hero currently. Astounding.
we were at the Bulldog in 96 when he had his accident
we spoke with him before the jump, such a nice guy with time for his fanswhat he is doing right now as we sit in our offices drinking coffee is something else, what a guy
I've just donated and feel proud to have met him
I echo the comments of others! I also wasn't aware he was doing this??
He was a hero then, and is a hero now! I have not met him, but on TV he always comes across as such a really pleasant guy? None of the ego issues, and always ready to acknowledge the fans!
I will make a donation and wish him the 'best of British' for the rest of his marathon!!

I had no idea about this either. Why isn't this all over the mainstream media? Surly it's far better to hear about things like this than kickballers getting their wieners out?

This is really a fantastic effort and shows amazing strength of character. Well done Eddie. Would be nice if PHers en masse donated to his extremely worthwhile cause.
Edit: Make a donation

I would love to go and offer my support in person and meet the living legend. I just can't seem to find a website to help me track him down, might try twitter. I don't FB I suppose he might be on there though.
He was going past Limehouse the other day. If you cycle the course on the North Bank of the Thames, you'll find him...I'd thought about doing this myself. All power to him.
Like others have said it pisses me off that PH has been the only site I have seen any mention of this. Just about sums the media up really. I remember that bloke who done it in a diving suite getting more attention than Eddie's getting. There needs to be some sort of welcome party for when he finishes. I would hate to think he'll cross the line to a few well wishers. Wouldn't it be great to have a big crowd cheering him on? Ideas anybody?
Well done Eddie, inspirational!
