In same Manchester paper by Dean Kirby:

" Drivers Say "YES!" to Traps!"

"Three quarters of drivers in Greater Manchester support the use of speed cameras - even though more than a third admit they have been caught speeding!

"A survey by the Greater Manchester Casualty reduction Pratnership, which now manages all the cameras, claims 75% support their use.

"But road users groups have slammed the cameras after it also emerged that drivers in certain parts of the country, such as LanCASH£££re , ( per the article NOT me droning on again about Scam County again! ) are far more likely to get a ticket than anywhere else

"The survey was sent to ..... 2332 residents, who are regularly asked by police for their opinions and 58% replied

"Of those 17% admitted they had been in a road accident in last three years and 37% said they had been caught speeding.

"Out of the 18% who did not support the use of speed cameras, the top complaint was lack of information on speed restrictions.

"Emma Reynolds (chief prat PR woman) is launching a campaign to raise awareness about speed limits. She said: "Breaking a speed limit by 5 miles per hour can make injury worse or even fatal"

"Tony Vickers - campaign manager - ABD - said "Partnerships should be disbanded so that responsibility can be placed back in the hands of the police!""

=====================

So - they ask 2332 people - who they know will give the answers they want. How many people live in Manchester - by the way? Hardly representative spread of opinion .

Wonder what she means about raising "speed limit awareness"? Lowering tolerances perhaps? Increasing talivan presence?

What about "road sense" and tackling each aspect of road safety education for all road users?

Funny how - no matter where they survey, what they ask, which pratnerships asks it ..... we always get the magic figure of 75% agreeing with use of scams and 35% death reduction at scam site - no matter where it is!

This a contrived target statistic?
